Your betta fish’s life can be shortened by a number of things including, disease, constant stress (yes, bettas feel stress too), an improper environment, or being fed the wrong food.

Did you know that most betta fish only live 3 to 4 months in captivity, but if properly taken care of they can live up to 3 to 5 years?

Another thing that can cause you poor little betta to pass before his time is disease. Betta Fish Diseases are very common in betta fish and unfortunately it is the number one cause for their death. Theses diseases range any where from fin rot, the most common disease, to dropsy, the most deadly disease.

The biggest factor in increasing your betta fish’s lifespan is lowering the stress level of your betta. Betta fish feel stress in almost the same way humans do, the only real way to eliminate stress is to simply make your betta happy.
